The shape of our eyes plays a significant role in our styling choices, just like dressing for our body type.
Properly styling our eyes can bring out our best features and boost our confidence. Beauty bloggers and
Pinterest fans have been sharing content on eye shapes and makeup for years, and we’ve all spent
countless hours trying out different eyeshadow techniques for our particular eye shape. Eyelash
extension styling is no different, as choosing to enhance or tone down our eyes can make or break a
beauty look.
At Lady Lash, our stylists have created a Holy Grail of four main styles that suit a wide variety of eye
shapes. These styles include the natural eye, doll eye, cat eye, and staggered eye, and they can all be
achieved in any lash set.
To determine your eye shape, you only need to answer four simple questions. First, do you have a
crease? If not, you have a monolid shape. If you do have a crease, ask yourself if the corners of your eyes
fall above or below a line drawn through the middle of your eyes. If they’re above, you have upturned
eyes, and if they’re below, you have downturned eyes. If they’re in the middle, move on to the next
question. Can you see your crease when facing the mirror straight on? If not, you have hooded eyes. If
you can, ask yourself if you see the whites of your eyes around the iris when your eyes are in resting
mode. If you can see the white of your eyes all the time, you have round eyes, and if not, your eyes are
almond-shaped.
Once you know your eye shape, you can match it with the perfect set of lashes. For example, the doll
eye style involves shorter lashes on the inner and outer corners and longer lashes in the middle of the
eye, which is great for monolid, hooded, and almond eyes. The cat eye style features shorter lengths
that gradually lengthen to long lashes on the corner of the eyes and is perfect for those with round eyes.
The natural eye style follows the lengths of your natural lashes and is suitable for everyone. Finally, the
staggered eye style features longer and shorter extensions applied unevenly across the lash and is ideal
for those who want a more dramatic look.
At Lady Lash, our stylists are always happy to experiment with different styles, and we strive to give you
the best advice for your eye shape and natural lashes. If you have trouble determining your eye shape or
think something different might be more for you, just let us know! We love talking about lashes and can
come up with a design that’s perfect for you.
